Cutting the metal plates is one of the few things Cutting the metal plates is one of the few things I don't do myself. The shop does a great job, but they still require a little work before I powder coat them. I file the outside edge, and use the deburring tool on all edges to make the edges smooth and help prevent powder build up. It's one of the steps I've added along the way to make the best product I can. #miata #mx5 #eunosroadster
Not long after I posted pictures of the parts behi Not long after I posted pictures of the parts behind the tombstone on my hazard + pop-up switches, my supplier changed the number of threads on these buttons. That made them too short for the NA8 Curved Tombstone. So I redesigned the NA8 supporting parts...again. The new design has two mounting nuts 3d printed in Carbon Fiber Nylon and a new tool that makes it much easier to tighten everything down.
I finally figured out how to create a custom threa I finally figured out how to create a custom thread, 19mm with 1mm thread pitch. Printed in NylonX with .6 nozzle at .15 layer height. I'm shocked this worked so well on the first attempt. It has less play than my push button switches. It has a beautiful matte finish IRL, but I used harsh lighting and stacked extension tubes along with some heavy handed editing to pull out the details. For you photogs out there, this was shot at f22 and still has a razor thin DOF. The nut was about 3 inches from the camera lens, practically touching the lens hood. Extension tubes are fun to play with.

These visor lights, along with additional yet-to-be-designed lighting, will be wired into the switch on my radio panel. Unlike any visor lights kits I've seen, mine will be completely plug and play. No soldering to the OEM light switch or cutting the car's wires. And it will work for both turning the light on and the door open function.
